Christmas at Luther Music Visit Event Schedule

Depending on how much time you have, this day allows you to arrive in the morning, at 1:15 p.m. for the Welcome, or just in time for dinner and/or the Christmas at Luther concert. Your arrival time reflects the choices you make on your registration form.
 

A note about scholarship auditions: March 1 is the music scholarship deadline. Therefore, you are strongly encouraged to audition for a music scholarship during the Music Visit Event. Auditions are scheduled prior to 1:15 p.m. Please review audition requirements at www.luther.edu/music/auditions. Accompanists are not required. www.luther.edu/music/auditions

1:15 p.m. --- Welcome and concert preview
2:30 p.m. --- Choice of activity (class visits are for students only)
  • * Bring your instrument and rehearse with Luther band members and Joan deAlbuquerque. Parents may observe.
  • * Bring your instrument and rehearse with Jazz Band and Tony Guzman. Parents may observe.
  • * Workshop: “Sing, Play, and Improvise.” Work with Luther faculty members Billy Fordice and Amy Engelsdorfer, and current Luther students to experience performances with student musical groups. Parents may observe.
  • * Campus tour (recommended for first-time visitors). Students and Parents.
  • * Study Abroad: A World of Opportunity. Presentation on the effects of international study on learning and career opportunities. Explore study abroad options and  learn about costs, financial aid, timing, and the places students can study. Students and parents.
  • * Class Visit: Education: Middle and High School Vocal Methods
  • * Class Visit: Social Work Practice
  • * Class Visit: Introduction to Biblical Studies
  • * Class Visit: Dance: Movement Fundamentals
  • * Class Visit: Calculus II
  • * Class Visit: Class Instruction in Piano (not for piano majors.)
  • * Class Visit: Ancient Philosophy
  • * Class Visit: Communications - Concepts of Media Production
  • * Class Visit: Anthropology - Writing Culture-Ethnology

During this time parents will also have the opportunity to learn about financial aid or attend a conversation with the Vice President for Student Life and the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

3:50 p.m. --- Current student panel and music tour slide show
4:45 p.m. --- Dinner with comments by President Richard Torgerson
5:45 p.m. --- Christmas at Luther concert
7:15 p.m. --- Departure
 
On-campus housing with current students is not available for this event.
